Programa Intensivo del TOC

Individual Intensive Treatment for OCD and Obsessive Anxiety

With Damián Ruiz (and, in some cases, other specialised professionals)

The Individual Weekend Intensive is a specialised therapeutic programme designed for people with OCD, obsessive anxiety and patterns of control, fear and emotional blockage who wish to undertake profound and highly personalised psychological work.

Unlike the conventional weekly format, intensive therapy makes it possible to concentrate an in-depth clinical intervention into one or two days, promoting greater therapeutic continuity and a broader understanding of the psychological mechanisms that sustain the problem.

The aim is not only to reduce symptoms, but also to address the emotional, relational and personality dynamics that commonly cause OCD to persist.

Who is it intended for?

This format is intended for people who:

  • Experience persistent OCD symptoms, obsessions or compulsions
  • Experience intense anxiety related to control, doubt or guilt
  • Wish to overcome long-standing psychological conflicts
  • Are looking for a deeper and more intensive intervention
  • Wish to complement a therapeutic process that has already begun
  • Live outside Barcelona and require a concentrated format
  • Feel that the conventional weekly format is currently insufficient

Available formats

Individual intensive — full Saturday

  • Approximately 8 hours of individual therapeutic intervention

Fee: €1,400

Individual intensive — Friday afternoon + full Saturday

  • Approximately 12 hours of intensive therapeutic work

Fee: €2,100

Essential prerequisite

Before undertaking the intensive programme, a minimum of four individual sessions, either in person or online, must have been completed.

These preliminary sessions are essential in order to:

  • Gain an in-depth understanding of how the problem functions
  • Understand the specific structure of the OCD
  • Assess the person’s current emotional and psychological state
  • Establish appropriate therapeutic goals
  • Prepare for the intensive work
  • Clinically assess whether the intensive programme is appropriate at that time

Acceptance into the programme requires a favourable prior clinical assessment by RDC – Ipitia Consulta Psicológica.

Not every case or stage of therapy is suitable for this intensive format.

Objectives of the intensive programme

The intensive programme is designed to:

  • Develop a deep understanding of how the individual’s OCD functions
  • Identify the emotional mechanisms that sustain obsessive anxiety
  • Identify rigid personality patterns
  • Analyse patterns of fear, guilt and the need for control
  • Release inhibited emotional areas
  • Promote new ways of psychological functioning
  • Establish clearer and more structured therapeutic guidance

The aim is not only to alleviate symptoms, but also to promote deeper and longer-lasting psychological changes.

How does the intensive programme work?

In-depth understanding of OCD

The following aspects are analysed:

  • How the disorder is psychologically structured
  • The role played by obsessions and compulsions
  • How fear and guilt operate
  • Which mechanisms perpetuate anxiety
  • Which patterns maintain the psychological blockage

The aim is to develop a structural rather than superficial understanding of the problem.

Analysis of personality patterns

The therapeutic work makes it possible to identify patterns commonly found in people with OCD, such as:

  • Excessive control
  • Perfectionism
  • Extreme self-demand
  • Emotional inhibition
  • Fear of conflict
  • Difficulty making decisions
  • Need for validation
  • Emotional and personal blockage

Experiential and emotional work

The intensive programme combines psychological analysis with experiential work designed to:

  • Make rigid patterns more flexible
  • Reduce avoidance behaviours
  • Release inhibited emotions
  • Strengthen decision-making abilities
  • Recover spontaneity and authenticity
  • Reduce obsessive dependence on control

Specific therapeutic exercises, analysis of personal situations, guided emotional work and various interventions focused on specific blockages may be used.

Restructuring daily life and behaviour

Aspects related to the following are also explored:

  • Lifestyle habits
  • Personal relationships
  • Isolation
  • Difficulty experiencing enjoyment
  • Emotional and physical disconnection
  • Daily organisation
  • Inhibition of desire and action

The aim is to promote a broader and more stable psychological reorganisation.

Important considerations

The intensive programme is not an immediate solution and does not guarantee a rapid improvement in symptoms.

In-depth psychological work may temporarily cause:

  • Increased anxiety
  • Greater emotional activation
  • The emergence of previously avoided conflicts
  • A feeling of internal disorganisation
  • A temporary increase in distress

These effects may form part of the therapeutic process itself and should be understood within the context of a broader clinical intervention.

For this reason, continuing with individual therapeutic follow-up afterwards will be advisable in many cases.

Subsequent follow-up

After the intensive programme, the following may be proposed:

  • Integration sessions
  • Continuation of therapy in person or online
  • Specific therapeutic guidelines
  • Personalised exercises
  • Subsequent clinical follow-up

Format

  • Individual in-person intensive programme in Barcelona
  • Option to continue online
  • Highly personalised care
  • Limited availability
  • Mandatory prior clinical assessment
